Pianist Edward Janning performs frequently as a soloist and chamber musician. Concert tours have brought him to Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg), Sweden, Italy, Belgium, and the United States. In recent years, Edward performed in festivals in Italy (Rome, Novi Spazi Musicali) and the United States (Staunton Music Festival). His repertoire extends from early classical keyboard music to the latest contemporary compositions. Edward’s interest in historic performance practice led him to found, together with violinist Casper Bleumers, the Erard Ensemble, with which he performs in concerts, radio broadcasts, and cd recordings.
Edward Janning was born in Amsterdam, where he attended the Sweelinck Conservatory. After graduating from the Sweelinck Conservatory, Edward continued his studies at Yale University, School of Music (New Haven, U.S.), with the Russian pianist Boris Berman.
Violinist Casper Bleumers was born in The Hague. He received his first violin lessons when he was 5 years old. His teacher was Mrs. C.S. Ingen-Housz. After graduating from high school, Casper attended the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam where Davina van Wely and Istvan Parkanyi were amongst his teachers. As a soloist, Casper performed with the Forum Philharmonic Orchestra. For a number of years, he was concert master of the ‘Nationaal Jeugd Orkest’. Together with pianist Paolo Giacometti, he appeared in concerts in the Netherlands and the United States. Casper Bleumers holds the position of principal second violin with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.
Violist Edith van Moergastel studied with Jürgen Kussmaul, Marjolein Dispa, and Ervin Schiffer. She has won First Prize at the ‘National Competition of the foundation Young Musical Talent’, the ‘Zilveren Vriendenkrans’ of the Concertgebouw (as a member of the Reinaert Ensemble), and the Schot & Co-prize at the ‘Tertis Competition’. Edith van Moergastel participated in master classes by Drushinin, Yuri Bahsmet, and Emile Cantor. Currently, Edith van Moergastel is a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and also very active in chamber music ensembles, such as the Erard Ensemble.
Cellist Daniël Esser studied cello at the Amsterdam Muziek Lyceum with Tibor de Machula and Jean Decroos as well as composition with Robert Heppener. In 1980, as a member of the Amsterdam Piano Trio, he won the international Piano Trio Competition in Colmar (France). Subsequently he played many concerts throughout Europe. Mr. Esser is a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 1979 and a member of the Ebony Band since 1990. Daniël Esser also teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Mr. Esser is co-author of the Anthology of Live Recordings of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
