The Erard Ensemble, romantic music in authentic performance

The Amsterdam based Erard Ensemble is named after the famous French piano manufacturer and inventor Sebastien Erard (1752-1831).

The ensemble is one of the leading groups committed to performing chamber music from the romantic period in an authentic manner. By using original 19th century pianos and gut strings with the string players, the Erard Ensemble strives to regain a freshness and transparency of sound quality as it existed during the nineteenth century.

The Erard Ensemble has a large repertoire consisting of well-known masterpieces (e.g. by Schumann, Brahms, and Fauré), as well as less-familiar, but very interesting compositions by masters such as Fuchs, Jongen, and Krill.
Previously released cd and radio recordings by the Erard Ensemble include chamber music by Joseph Jongen, Gabriel Fauré, André Caplet, and Maurice Ravel.

The Erard Ensemble has its own concert series at the historic Amstel Church in Amsterdam, where they present chamber music from a broad range of composers. The members of the Erard Ensemble are experienced chamber musicians from the Dutch Radio Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
